Chairman

Directors
James
C. Welsh, P.E. is President and General Manager (CEO) for
the Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) in Kissimmee, Fla.,
and he serves as the elected Chairman of the Florida Municipal
Power Agency.
Welsh
has headed Kissimmee’s electric system since 1982. In
all, he has 34 years of experience in the utility industry.
Prior to joining KUA, he served three years as Lead Engineer
for the East Kentucky Power Cooperative, for one year as Senior
Engineer with R.W. Beck & Associates, and for five years
as an engineer with Philadelphia Electric Company.
He
was elected as FMPA’s Chairman in July 2006. Previously,
he served FMPA as Vice Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary-Treasurer
and Assistant Secretary-Treasurer. Welsh has been a member
of FMPA’s Board of Directors since 1982 and a member
of the Executive Committee since 1984.
Welsh
is a registered professional engineer in the states of Florida,
Pennsylvania, Colorado and Kentucky. He holds a bachelor’s
and a master’s degree in engineering from the University
of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in business administration
from Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla.
