Electrical Engineer I, II, or III – City of Ocala Electric Utility – Electric Engineering Division. Electrical Engineer I: $48,326.05 – $78,529.82 annually, Electrical Engineer II: $55,943.44 – $90,908.09 annually, Electrical Engineer III: $61,677.64 - $100,266.17 annually. This is engineering work at various levels relating to electric transmission and distribution design. Position reports to Electric Engineering Supervisor. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: All levels must have knowledge in computers, mathematics, physics, calculus and electrical theory. Level I: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. Level II: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering and a minimum of three years experience in Electric Transmission and Distribution industry and one year supervisory experience/training. E.I.T. certification in the State of Florida is required. Engineer I – LE Description of Class:

This is entry-level engineering work. Engineer III – LE Description of Class:

This highly skilled engineering position is responsible for the performance of difficult and complex engineering assignments associated with the planning and design of a variety of projects and studies needed to support the electric power facilities. Work is under the general supervision of an administration supervisor. Tasks afford the opportunity for independent judgment and action in planning details of work and in making technical decisions. A supervisor reviews work performed.

Qualifications:
All levels require graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a Bachelor of Science degree in one of the specified Engineering disciplines. Engineer I – No experience. Engineer II – Two (2) years of experience in related engineering work. Engineer III – Five (5) years of experience in related engineering work.

Work includes supervision of all Line Crews for overhead/underground electrical work involved in the construction, re-conductor, maintenance and extension of power lines, line clearance, lighting systems. Monitors grid status, switching/tagging procedures. 26kV. Supervisory duties: promotes safe work practices, maintain all necessary electrical compliances, liaison w/various govt., city & county agencies and neighboring utilities, scheduling crews. Administrative duties including setting and monitoring operation and capital projects budgets and schedules, payroll verification, and work assignments, call-out & OT listings plus invoice verification. POWER PLANT LEAD ENGINEER

Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) is a municipal electric utility located in Central Florida near Disney World. Applicant must have a BS degree in mechanical, electrical or chemical engineering and a minimum of two years experience in power plant operations/maintenance or closely related work. Operate and maintain chiller plant equipment/facilities in order to deliver efficient and reliable chilled water to customers and maintain safe working conditions. Monitor plant operations through computerized control system. Make emergency decisions affecting plant operation or shut down. Start and stop equipment when required to meet chilled water system demands or emergencies. Assist service personnel in performing repairs and preventive maintenance to plant equipment and facilities. Perform minor maintenance on equipment as required. Maintain logs, data and trend data – recommend efficiency improvements in plant operation. Assist in resolution of customer service issues or complaints.

Ability to troubleshoot above described equipment including problem identification, evaluation of alternative solutions and implementation of corrective action. Basic Job Duties:
All activities associated with commissioning, startup, shutdown and operation of the Combined Cycle Facility including related auxiliary systems. Operators will work both as control room and system operators responsible for the detailed operation of the respective equipment. Operations personnel will be expected to be qualified as a mechanic, electrician or instrumentation technician with skills commiserate to a PRBU Technician III or higher and work as such on a periodic basis during the year. Technical and operational understanding of all power plant systems and the ability to safely and effectively operate these systems within established parameters. Effectively operate and control equipment through the use of multiple plant coordinated control systems including Ovation and GE MK6e. Routine monitoring of process status and performance including sampling of gas and liquid streams. Conduct routine equipment inspection rounds. Reviewing operations manuals, procedures, and logging of shift activities and performance. Conduct routine housekeeping throughout the C.C. Facility. Troubleshoot operational systems including problem identification, evaluation of alternative solutions and implementation of corrective action. Cross train in several positions and rotate routinely through these assignments. Lead and direct other operators and technicians. Operations personnel will be expected to be qualified as a mechanic, electrician or instrumentation technician with skills commiserate to a PRBU Technician III or higher and work as such on a periodic basis during the year.

Manager of Electric System Control

Salary Range is $76,793 - $116,230 depending on qualifications

General Description of Class: This managerial position is responsible for overseeing and directing the administrative and technical functions and personnel needed to ensure safe and reliable operations of the electric transmission and distribution system. Work involves planning, coordination and supervising the daily activities of the Electric Control Center and first responder Troublemen groups. Responsibilities include working with the AGM – Delivery to establish goals and criteria for the successful and reliable operation of the electric transmission, substation and distribution network in compliance with NERC and FRCC reliability standards.

Qualifications: An accredited four (4) year college degree in engineering or engineering technology, or a high school diploma supplemented by courses in electrical theory and/or operations with a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in electric system operations. Minimum of five (5) year of supervisory experience in electric system control environment. Must possess and maintain North American Electric Reliability Council (NERC) System Operator Certification. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
Completion of City University Level one (1) or completion within twelve (12) months.

The City of Ocala, Florida, is seeking an Electric Utility Director. Ocala is located 75 miles north of Orlando in Central Florida.

The Electric Utility Director is a highly responsible administrative, technical, and operational position that serves as the Chief Operating Officer for the Ocala Electric Utility. Ocala Electric Utility provides electric services to approximately 44,000 customers in and around the City of Ocala and has a service area of approximately 170 square miles. The Director reports directly to the City Manager or designee.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a diverse background in all aspects of electric utility operations, management and administration, and outstanding leadership and communication skills. Responsibilities include ensuring a positive and productive relationship between management, employees, customers, and the general public. The successful candidate will have the following educational background: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business administration with specific training in the electric utility field; and five to ten years of upper management experience with an electric utility of similar size to Ocala.

Sr. Engineer (Electrical)

Hours: 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday thru Friday

Salary: Min. $59,200 – Max. $88,800 annually


Education:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Engineering Technology.


Requirements:

Minimum of five (5) years of related engineering experience. Power Plant (preferably Coal-Fired) process controls system experience with any and/or all of the following:

- Steam boiler system and boiler auxiliary components.
- Large rotating equipment such as FD and ID fans, feed pumps, and general service pumps.
- Brine Plants (cooling tower blowdown treatment).
- Air heater, bottom ash, and fly ash systems.
- Scrubbers, precipitators, SCRs, and sludge conditioning systems.
- Plant and/or industrial electrical system knowledge.
- Demonstrate ability to apply mechanical, electrical, chemical and/or controls aptitudes within a power plant environment.
- Have a high-level understanding of power plant processes, and to work with mechanical, electrical, and/or controls equipment and complete systems.
- Be self-motivated, consistent, reliable, and responsible.

CERTIFIED SYSTEM OPERATOR:

The Kissimmee Utility Authority, the sixth largest municipal utility in Florida, is seeking a NERC Certified System Operator to operate the utility’s transmission and distribution power systems. This is responsible technical work monitoring and controlling the KUA’s electrical generation, transmission and distribution systems on an assigned rotating shift.
