Environmental Representation & Updates

FMPA staff is available for environmental support for members.  Services include member representation; member and legal assistance; training coordination; information distribution and updates; and joint purchasing of common services.  FMPA staff also monitors legislative and regulatory activities at the state and federal level. For additional information, contact Sharon Smeenk.

Environmental Roundtable for Utility Personnel

FMPA coordinates a quarterly roundtable for members to exchange environmental information.  The purpose of the roundtable is to provide a forum for environmental personnel to share ideas concerning environmental regulatory and legislative activity, technologies, controls, strategies and training.  Participants also discuss specific issues and concerns and receive assistance from the group.  The roundtable is held quarterly, and all FMPA members are welcome to attend. Please see the Member Services Calendar for the next scheduled meeting date. Contact Sharon Smeenk for additional information.

Environmental Training Services

FMPA sponsors periodic training programs for members to address common issues being faced by members.  Training topics presented in the past include PCB disposal and management, Clean Air Act, hazardous waste management, Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure plans, environmental spill response, and Indoor Air Quality and HVAC Efficiency.  For information on upcoming events, please see the Member Services Calendar, or contact Sharon Smeenk.

Environmental Compliance Assistance

In addition to monitoring and tracking environmental regulations and their potential impact on members, FMPA Member Services can provide members with assistance in understanding regulations.  FMPA can assist with reviewing a member’s current practices to assist with compliance with environmental regulations and requirements.  In addition, for a more in-depth review, Member Services can coordinate assistance from staff from other member utilities to review policies, practices and procedures to enhance environmental compliance efforts.  Contact Sharon Smeenk for more information.
